Just run with it
I have just decided to let things evolve, to move and adjust as need be and to make the most out of every obstacle or opportunity. An old friend of my parents’ once advised me (when I was moving to a new city in my twenties, still single etc) “never turn down an invitation, you never know who you could meet if you show up.” And wow has it been true!!
I showed up for a lunch with a friend who introduced me to the man who became my first boss, in an advertising agency where I met my husband.
I showed up to an informational meeting about Team in Training and wound up competing in two triathlons that year and believe me: that has forever changed me.
I showed up for a pilates class that I didnt think I wanted to go to, and met the friend who would make my world a happier place by inviting me to join her running group.
I showed up at the starting line with my brother in law to complete my first triathlon where the idea for this business was born.
I showed up for a phone call with Susie Wargin, whom I had never met, and now I am happy to call her my friend and my business’ greatest advocate.
I showed up at a convention for female small business owners, that I had been invited to by a colleague’s wife, and met some amazing women who enouraged me in my business adventure (and lets just say-these women had proven they know a good thing when they see it)
The list goes on and on……So keep that in mind when an invite or evite arrives and you would just as soon forget it, you never know what window could be opened if you just show up at the door.
